Great signing today at Alternate Reality →
We had a great time signing books at Alternate Reality today. The owner, Tim, is quite a funny man, and certainly treated us with kindness (even pretending to actually like our stuff… can you imagine?). The store is just gigantic and filled with back issues, trades, posters, toys, kids’ books—pretty much everything that could possibly be in a shop. It was astounding to see so...

Just a few more days to order Hello Do You Work... →
Hello Do You Work Here, an anthology book that has some stellar art (and some art by Mike, too) is THIS close to getting the minimum number of pre-orders to be distributed at shops across the country.
Furthermore, you can get it at 30% off! For less than it costs you to buy lunch tomorrow. I feel very telethon-y right now. Sorry.
So, if you were thinking of ordering a copy, well, now is the...

We have a great trailer for Loosely Based up on YouTube now! Filmed by Dio Traverso, featuring music by Chad Thomas and Hot as Hell, and starring Nik!

Not side-splitting, but it will make you chuckle. And, we need a laugh in this economy, don’t we?
A really good review of Loosely Based on The... →
It popped up out of nowhere. How great is that? One issue with the review, though, is that I did not write Loosely Based, Nik did. Send all praise (or blame, as the case may be) to him. Regardless, thanks for the kind words, Eric! It really means something when someone who’s not family and who doesn’t owe us money tells us that they like our work. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy...
Hello, Have You Ordered This? →
Whoa, not 10 minutes after the last post about the new books coming out, I found out that Hello, Do You Work Here is in Previews right now. Yep, this very minute, you have a chance to place an order for THE premier illustrated book about the workplace. Aside from Dilbert, of course. That’s just fucking hilarious.
So, get down to your local comic shop and tell them to order Hello, Do You...
New books are coming soon!
Hello faithful readers! It’s been a while since the last post, but don’t fret dears. The wait was worth it. We have two new books coming out soon. Yes, not one, but TWO!
The first is Hello, Do You Work Here? which is a book by Peter Simeti, the wonderful publisher of The Big Bad Book. I’m not kissing up; it’s true. Anyway, Peter’s put together a clever anthology...

Come join us at Comic Vault on Saturday from 3-5 →
The fine folks at Comic Vault at 1530 W. Montrose in Chicago have invited us to come to their store as part of their Free Comic Book Day festivities. Expect the usual shenanigans from us (the only real difference being that Nik wants to be the one to give massages this time). Get a signed copy of The Big Bad Book, some artwork, or a sketch, and then hear us pat ourselves on the back as we...
S.P.A.A.A.A.A.C.C.C.E.E.E.E!
We had a blast at S.P.A.C.E. this weekend. Some amazingly talented people were there, we sold some books and art, made some new friends (yep, we fooled ‘em), bought some great stuff, and found the absolutely most unique bookstore in all of Ohio.
And, to top it all off, we were more or less invited to participate in a spanking and flogging film. We could have taken the industry by storm, but...
Three Classic April Fool’s Day Pranks and their...
3. Topping off the list, we have the inventor of the Elliptical machine, Hans Gonadsburg. It all started off as a prank on his brother, Franz. Hans had convinced his brother that a special machine he had invented earlier that morning, would give Franz a body that all the girls in the village of Smegmadorf, would croon over. What he didn’t tell his brother, was that he was secretly videotaping...

Hooray for publicity! We all know there’s a certain amount of whoring you need to do to get what you want… Me? I like it! Now, Mike Czerniawski, was not mentioned in the article, but I did mention my man in the interview! So, fear not, my artist/letterer/hetero-partner! My love for you can climb mountains and swim the seas! It can spoon you when you’re lonely and hold you when...
Our new blog is up and running...I think.
Our new and slightly improved blog is at parchedpaper.tumblr.com, it’s up and running, replacing our thebigbadbook blog, and it should be connecting to twitter and facebook, so you can follow the silliness in a multitude of fine locations. We’ll have updates on our current and future projects, along with our usual ill-informed takes on pop culture, and of course the sexually laced...
The First Aid Comics signing was a blast!
Thanks to everyone who came and hung out with us on Friday night! Also, James Nurse (the store owner) and Dio (all around cool fella and filmmaker), thanks for making us feel right at home! Shit, thanks even to the legions of man-children that play “Magic: the Gathering” religiously… I’m not really sure what that game is, but one thig is for certain, it must be...
The nonsense continues on March 19th!
That’s right, Amigo’s and Amiga’s! Another signing is just a few days away! First Aid Comics in Hyde Park will be hosting our slightly flabby posterior’s on this Friday, Between 5pm and 8pm! Here’s just a taste of what you might be in for if you stop by:

I can promise you three things: A bit of grab ass, a patent Mike C “nip slip”, and the solution to world hunger (OK, probably not the last one), but there just might be some sort of solutions… Like easy math problems, or knots in your sneakers… Either way, there is a great probability that something will get solved at Quimby’s… and a nice neat solution is...
Successssss!
Had a great time at the Graham Crackers shop in Downers Grove. The manager, Jim Brozman (who draws Dick Tracy—yes, the one in your newspaper), was great and the turn out was fantastic. It was really fun meeting all of you awesome folks. Nik wrote goofy messages and Mike drew goofy pictures. All was right with the world!

Hey boys and girls, guess what?
It’s time for another Big Bad Book signing!
Tomorrow from 3-7, Nik and I will be at Graham Crackers Comics, 1550 Ogden Ave, Downers Grove, IL 60515. Come on down, get a sketch and some artwork to go with your lovely book!
Yes, it is lovely, isn’t. My how that cover glistens in the light. It calls to me. Oooo, Big Bad Book, I just can’t resist you…
Alterna's Four Year Anniversary Celebration! →
Our very first signing was a huge success. Depending, of course, on your definition of huge.
We had a great time with the Comic Book Jones gang and all the Alterna creators (Michael Bracco, Stephen Lindsay, and Jeff McComsey). The shop was amazing, and the people were even better. Thanks to all the folks who came by and picked up the book and some artwork.

I'm on a high
Just got a call from a friend saying that he was in a comic shop buying our book tonight. What a surreal experience! Someone is actually buying something that we created. In a store on the other side of the country. I’ve never had anything happen to me like that.
So, thanks to all of you for your support at all levels. Thanks to those who pushed us to get the book done and published, and...
